Welcome to GharMate. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the GharMate website and services. By creating an account or using GharMate, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Who can use GharMate

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account details up to date.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized use. You may not share your account or create an account for someone else without permission.

3. What GharMate is (and isn't)

GharMate is a platform that connects students with property owners and potential roommates. We are not a landlord, broker, or party to any rental agreement, booking, or arrangement made between users. Any tenancy, deposit, payment, or visit is strictly between the student and the owner. We encourage you to inspect a property in person and verify details independently before paying any money.

4. Listings and content

• Owners must list only real, available properties with accurate details, pricing, and photos they have the right to use.
• Reviews and community posts must be genuine and based on real experience. No fake, misleading, or paid reviews.
• You retain ownership of the content you post, and grant GharMate a licence to display and distribute it on the platform.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Post fraudulent listings, scams, or misleading information.
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or spam other users.
• Collect other users' data, or use the platform for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or bypass the security of the service.

6. Verification and moderation

To keep GharMate safe, we may review, verify, hide, or remove listings, reviews, and accounts, and we may suspend or ban users who break these Terms — including through automated fraud checks and human review. Verification badges indicate a review was carried out but are not a guarantee.

7. Fees

Using GharMate as a student is free. Owners may choose optional paid features such as premium listings. Any fees will be shown clearly before you pay.

8. Disclaimers

GharMate is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not own, manage, inspect, or guarantee any property, owner, or user, and we do not guarantee that listings are accurate, available, or safe. You use the platform and deal with other users at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GharMate is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for disputes, losses, or agreements arising between students and owners.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of GharMate after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
